Potato Sandwich Buns

Soft and fluffy buns for burgers, hot dogs, and other sandwiches.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium potato, cooked in water, mashed, cooled
  • 1 cup warm potato water
  • 1 tbs. instant yeast
  • 2 tbs. sugar
  • 3 cups AP flour unbleached flour + more, if needed
  • 1 1/4 tsp seasoned salt
  • 2 1/2 tbs. melted butter
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • melted butter

Instructions:

  • Proof yeast in potato water and sugar.
  • Add other ingredients, then flour.
  • Mix well.
  • Dough should ppull away from the side of the mixing bowl.
  • Knead 5 minutes.
  • Cover and let rise until doubled, about an hour.
  • Punch down, shape into buns.
  • Cover, let rise an hour.
  • Heat oven to 375 F.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes.
  • Cool on rack.
  • Brush butter on tops.
